Some of you reading this may not believe as I do, but this holiday/holy day is special in my life.
Wikipedia defines Easter as:
“Easter,[nb 1] also called Pascha[nb 2] (Aramaic, Greek, Latin) or Resurrection Sunday,[nb 3] is a Christian festival and cultural holiday commemorating the resurrection of Jesus from the dead, described in the New Testament as having occurred on the third day of his burial following his crucifixion by the Romans at Calvary c. 30 AD.[12][13] It is the culmination of the Passion of Jesus, preceded by Lent (or Great Lent), a 40-day period of fasting, prayer, and penance.”
There’s more in Wikipedia.
The focus of Easter has been somewhat deflected by Easter bunnies? Easter eggs? and Easter candy? While the first two indicate new life because Easter happens during the northern hemisphere’s springtime, I’m not sure where the candy comes in, other than celebrating a holiday. Of course, we also eat candy at Halloween and on Valentine’s Day.
If Easter hasn’t been part of your faith celebration, consider looking into it.
In the meantime, I’m working on my next book. It will be a standalone and a combination of the current genre I write and a hint of a separate genre. My editor is currently working on the third book in the series, Cowboys of the High Desert. You’ll enjoy this one because it’s a little out of the norm.
Thanks for checking in with me this month. If you’d like to share how you spend your Easter, I’d love to hear from you.
“He is not here; he has risen! Remember how he told you, while he was still with you in Galilee:” Luke 24:6 (NIV)
Joyous Easter to you!
